DON VARGHESE GNALIAN
Superiore della PROVINCIA INDIA-NIGERIA-GRAN BRETAGNA-IRLANDA

Lo ha nominato nell’incarico il Superiore generale, don Valdir José De Castro, con decreto del 26 luglio 2017. 

Don Varghese Gnalian, 61 anni, è nato a Mookkannoor (Kerala, India) il 22 dicembre 1955. Entrato in Congregazione l’8 giugno 1974, ha emesso la prima professione religiosa il 30 giugno 1978, che ha confermato in perpetuo il 19 marzo 1985. È stato ordinato sacerdote il 17 gennaio 1986, dopo aver completato il suo baccellierato presso l’Institute for Religious Studies “Vidyajothi” dei Gesuiti a Nuova Delhi. Durante lo studio della teologia ha anche ottenuto un diploma in Formative Psychology.

Don Varghese è già stato Superiore provinciale della Circoscrizione dal 2006 al 2010, dopo un’esperienza anche come Consigliere provinciale (1990-1994). Ha lavorato molto nel campo della formazione: prima come Promotore vocazionale e Maestro degli aspiranti a Bangalore (1986-1990), poi come Maestro degli juniores ad Allahabad (1990-1994) – periodo in cui è stato anche Direttore della rivista mensile Inspirational Quote –, poi come Maestro degli juniores a Vijayawada (2004-2005) e, infine, come Coordinatore generale della formazione (2002- 2004).

Ha ricoperto anche anche il ruolo di Direttore editoriale di ST PAULS Malayalam a Kochi (1994-2000), Direttore della St Paul Book and Art Centre, sempre a Kochi (1994-2000 e 2011-2015) e di Direttore del Jeevan Dhara Book Centre a Vijayawada (2000-2002). Come Superiore locale ha animato le comunità di Kochi (1994-2000), Mumbai (2001-2003), Chennai (2005-2006) e Bangalore (dal 2015 ad oggi).

A don Varghese giunga dal Governo generale l’augurio di un fecondo lavoro.

India - XVI Provincial Chapter Final DayNovember 3, 2014, the concluding day of the XVI Provincial Chapter of the India-Nigeria-Great Britain-Ireland Province began with a Visit to the Blessed Sacrament guided by Fr Devasia Puthiyaparambil. He led us through the Truth-Way-Life method of praying.

India - XVI Provincial Chapter Day 7November 1, 2014, the solemnity of all Saints and the seventh day of the XVI Provincial Chapter began with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr Francis Dalmet. Fr Francis invited the congregation to work for the award of swargarathna (Pearl of Heaven), like the ones who have already reached the presence of God.

The formal proceedings of the day began with a bhajan invoking the Holy Spirit by Fr Saju George. Then the actuaries read the minutes of the previous day and the same was approved with a few amendments. Then the Secretary of the Chapter invited the drafting committee to present the goals and action plans for the Vocation Promotion, Formation, Apostolate, Community life, Spiritual life, Administration and Pauline Family formulated by it. On behalf of the Drafting Committee, Fr Joe Eruppakkatt presented them to the assembly.

After the presentation of the goals and action plans by the Drafting Committee, Fr Michael Raj, Provincial, thanked the members of the drafting committee for the commendable job. Then the Secretary read out each of the goals and action plans for the approval of the Chapter and it unanimously voted in favour of all of them. After this, the Chapter Document was signed by Fr Michael Raj, Provincial, and Fr Devasia Puthiyaparambil, the Secretary to the Chapter in presence of all the Chapter members. After the signing the document, Fr Provincial handed over the same to Br. Blaise Thadathil, the General Councillor, to be handed over to the General Government of the Society of St Paul.

The day came to a close with the Eucharist Visit in our local Community Chapel of Pune conducted by Frs Siji and Gregory. This was followed by a fraternal meal in our community during which the Superior and the community felicitated the new Provincial team and wished them fruitful service in the Province.

 

India - XVI Provincial Chapter Day 8November 02, 2014, the penultimate day of the XVI Provincial Chapter began with the celebration of the Eucharist presided over by Fr Joe Eruppakkatt. In his homily, the celebrant reminded the assembly that life is a gift of God.

India - XVI Provincial Chapter Day 831 October, 2014, the sixth day of the Chapter opened with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr Johnson Vattakkunnel. 'Change to Grow' was the running theme of his homily. We are called to be agents of change. God wants us to use all the graces granted to us in their totality and live a fuller life.
