With hearts full of joy and gratitude, the Pauline Family in India together with Devamatha Forane Church, Paisakary, witnessed the heart-lifting Priestly Ordination ceremony and First Holy Mass of Deacon Praveen Jose Chirathara SSP, on Thursday, 25 April 2019. The Ordination Rite began at 9.00 am presided over by Rt Rev Dr Joseph Pamplany, the Auxiliary Bishop of Tellicherry, who was assisted by Fr Varghese Gnalian SSP, the Provincial Superior, and Fr Johnson Vattakunnel SSP. In his homily, the Bishop explicated the relevance, role and challenges of priesthood in today’s world. He also acknowledged the apostolic contribution of the Paulines to the Indian Church and invited Fr Praveen to become a fervent missionary after the example of St Paul.

The newly ordained priest celebrated his First Holy Mass immediately after the Rite of Ordination. Besides his parents and siblings (younger sister and brother), Fr Praveen was joined by over 25 concelebrating priests and a large number of religious and faithful. A short facilitation programme was held soon after the Mass in which Fr Gnalian, congratulated Fr Praveen in the name of India-Nigeria-Great Britain-Ireland Province and thanked his parents for giving their son to the Society of St Paul. There were also a few representatives from the parish who paid fitting tributes to the newly ordained. Fr Praveen expressed his sentiments of gratitude to all. It was followed by fellowship meal for all who were present on the occasion.

Congratulation dear Fr Praveen! We wish and pray that he continues to be a true Pauline committed to spread the Gospel of Christ through the means of social communications.
