Following their Annual Retreat, 15 SSP temporary professed members renewed their religious consecration on May 31, 2024, feast of the Annunciation of the Lord. The renewal took place during the evening Eucharistic celebration at Mary Queen of Apostles chapel in Makati City, presided by Fr. Khris Emmanuel Llacer, Formator of the Juniors, and concelebrated by Provincial Superior Fr. Mario Sobrejuanite, and Fr. Lawrence De Peralta, Assistant Formator.
In his homily before receiving their vows, Fr. Mario recalled the salient points of Blessed Alberione’s thoughts on religious vows and their counter to the mentality of the world: chastity is the greatest love; poverty, the greatest wealth; and poverty, the greatest freedom. He encouraged them to be true to their specific Pauline charism and mission.
The 15 renewalists belong to the different stages of formation. Three have already done their “Corso” in Rome in preparation for perpetual profession.
Their Annual Retreat was done at the Jesuit Retreat House in Novaliches, Quezon City, on May 26-30, 2024. The Retreat Speaker was Bro. Hansel Mapayo, SSP. He shared his reflections from the Book of Qoheleth (Ecclesiastes) on the turn of events in human life: “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” (Eccl 3:1).
After the renewal, the entire Makati community celebrated the occasion with a special supper at the refectory.
